Germany & Slovakia

Our next destination on our travels through some of Europe was Germany. We went to visit some friends for the weekend.

We went via Munich...

Munich
Food and beer...
...at the famous Hofbräuhaus
...onto  Lichenfels

Litchenfels is where my friend grew up, so great to see it from her perspective.

Festival - Schützenfest...
...with traditional food, drink and music.
Loved seeing my friends
German beer
Other fun memories include water fights, playing in a sand pit, eating ice cream, watching Peppa Pig (all with my friend's children, you might have guessed), paddling in a very cold river, visiting a church service all in German and seeing a very welcoming, social side of German life.

From Germany we went onto Slovakia - to the capital  Bratislava - to see another friend of mine.

Bratislava

Wandering through the town

I had to take a picture of this pigeon nesting on the
 tiny balcony of the hostel!
The castle

Enjoying music in the street
Again, great to be able to see friends in distant places :)
Grassalkovich Palace

As I put these pictures up, I'm really starting to miss this time away. It was a lovely time to explore and so refreshing to visit lots of places I'd never been to and see people I don't get to see often. I feel so blessed to have been able to do this. But ah not all of life can feel like a holiday... Will stop dwelling now and post this!
