In Preston there is an egg-rolling event, a tradition which has been practiced for hundreds of years in Avenham Park - traditionally with boiled eggs but nowadays most people opt for the chocolate variety!
This year included some outdoor interactive theatre in the form of explorers discovering and sharing 'Easterland'. I was involved with this project in the 'tea party' type area - playing Miss Felicity Potts - which involved movement and music. With steam-punk costume and live accordion playing, it was a great experience and a lot of fun.
I enjoyed the devising process also, and transferring what was created to the outdoor space was a slight challenge but I think went well!
On the day, there was lots of great input from the public. Most lovely was when members of the public came to share our 'imaginary tea' and the children in particular would tell us what it tasted of to them - from chocolate, to strawberry, to 'magic jelly'!
