Spent the last few days visitin family and today meeting up with a couple of old friends. 3 great days full of wonderful people. Especially enjoyed talking to my grandma about some of the amazing things she's done in her life, and knowing what more she will still do because of the sort of lady she is. Makes me look forward to building on my story....

My good friend had a 'C' themed party for her birthday :) I mentioned before I wasn't sure what to be - I ended up going as Captain Hook. The birthday girl had an amazing clown costume she made herself (she is studying fashion hence being able to do stuff like that...). Was a really fun evening.

I totally love this picture. A moment in turkey with my good friend who used to live there. Going across from the european side of Istanbul back to the Asian side of Istanbul on the ferry. The ferry was brill enough with çay tea every time and lovely views but going across near the end of our time there as the sun set was one of those surreal amazingly beautiful moments of life i hope i don't forget... ^_^

Why do we celebrate Christmas?
Posted by
banana
Hey hey! It's Christmas eve! Tomorrow is the day we celebrate Jesus's birth!
Jesus is God's son, and he came to earth as a man. This is because God loved us so much he wanted to rescue us from our sin and have a personal relationship with each of us. Because as humans basically we think we can be the boss of our own life and try to go our own way instead of God's way (this is basically what sin is) even though God loves us. The payment for sin would be death. He knew the only way of rescuing us from our sin and having a personal relationship with us was possible, was for Jesus to die on the cross - taking the punishment for all our sins. And because Jesus did that, we can turn to God and all our sin is dealt with! And not only that - God has power over death - and we know this because he rose Jesus to life!!! This means we too can be raised to life if we just turn to him - and not only that but while we live on Earth we have life and life in all it's fullness because Jesus Christ has set us free!!We can have a real personal relationship with God our father :) This is the best best best news ever.
There are different acounts of when this happened in Matthew, Mark , Luke and John in the bible if you wanna check it out for yourself. Or talk to someone who you know knows Jesus...like me! Or even better just pray now and invite him into your life.
Letting him into your life is the best decision you could ever make... :)
Hope you all have a brilliant Christmas xx

I am writing this sat in my newly decorated room with my desk facing out the window to the snow covered garden!:) good moment!
I've had a good few days...on thursday i went out to see my old college friends band play. They're called Nanook and the Sleazy Pancakes and were very good :) Then went to a jazz bar and listened to a band who i'm pretty sure played at my sisters wedding. They're really brill and i am a leetle bit jealous (and in awe of!) the main girl she's brilliant i'd love to be able to skat about like her and stuff... so relaxed too and having fun. This man also said 'do you want to learn to jive dance?' (a lady sat near us had just been dancing with him) and proceded to teach me to do so. That was really fun! As everyone was bopping to the music and a few people dancing and stuff and the relaxed happy atmosphere it made me think back to the time I went to Kosovo whilst I was college age. I remember being in a resteraunt there and by the end of the meal literally the whole resteraunt was up and dancing holiding hands and it was so fun. The Kosovon people would dance at any opportunity which I totally loved :) Yeh it set me day dreaming back to then and thinking how life is for living and we shouldn't hold ourselves back from things we want to do or express - I guess in Kosovo they know this in such a greater degree because of things they have been through.
On Friday I had a fairly relaxed day - began by watching the final episode of Misfits as I had my brekky (totally into misfits!!). Yesterday with my family I spent most of the day sorting out my room - there's still more to do but done quite alot. In the evening watched the film 'doubt' with my parentals - good film thought that Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman were brilliant. I've only really seen Hoffman in comedy before I thought he was really good and of course Streep is a bit of a legend... whilst watching it I put on some fake nails which sounds tacky but they're really nice they're made by 'Real Life' - I actually bought them because of a video by the make-up guru Elle on Youtube (I'm a little addicted to her videos :P )
http://www.youtube.com/user/allthatglitters21?blend=1&ob=4#p/u
and they are really good so am pleased :)
Today went to church meeting and it was a special Christmas one with the kids doing songs and stuff like that so cute and caught up with some amazing people I've missed alot whilst being at uni. This evening we have a Christmassy evening thing we have every year which I'm so excited before just hope it doesn't snow so much that we can't go!:-S

i've now done just about all my christmas shopping!:) it took only 2 trips to town and one big internet shopping session (from 2 different shops). Had a catch up with friends during each shopping trip too. :) good stuff.
Also to sort of say on a more serious note - my grandma's been not very well which has been quite upsetting but now found out it is totally treatable and just good news :) that's all i wanted to share on the matter right now but just to say Praise God he hears our prayers and he answers.

I'm at that point which comes round every now and again where you feel like life is too complicated for words and your heads not in the state to combat this... so i may just post a picture or thought everynow and then until I get back into the writing mood.... this is a picture of the puppet for our recent performance 'Ben'. We even made him!! I'm so proud :P Hence posting it despite the fact it makes me look a little crazy... and I was one of the people that operated it along with two other girlies :)
By the way he also has some really cute shoes with laces and everything but you can't see 'em here...

The life of an actor ;-)

banana
I'm sat on my bed stuffing my face with chocolate and sipping on a mugful of milk after having done the final of our 3 performances of Macbeth today....I'm knackered....and in an hour or so i'll be out on the town celebrating the end of the run. Such is the life of the actor. Although having said that for the life of a true actor probably replace the chocolate with celery and houmous (I do like these things but sometimes you just need a chocolate hit...) and the milk with wine. ;-P lol.
So how's it been this week? Well - I've gotta say I've really enjoyed it :) Totally. even the high schools which I was apprehensive about. The workshops were really enjoyable and we were pretty fortunate with the kids we got - sure, some were restless, some uninterested. But the behaviour was so much better than I expected from remembering my high school days, and the amount of interested kids far out weighed any down points. And of course I totally loved going to the primary school - I love working with this age kids and today wasn't a let down at all. :) Right now though I'm so tired and really just wanna sleep for a few hours before I go anywhere but ah well...
Also, I am a little bit sad that it is bonfire night and I'm not doing anything bonfire related - although our director did bring in some bonfire toffee today :) - because I totally love bonfire night.... there's something about it - well lots of things about it - I just totally love. Often we have a big bonfire at home home. But not this year. ah well. Maybe find something this weekend.
um think I may have reached the level of too much chocolate now :S lol

This coming week we are performing our version of Macbeth to schools -by the way, don't know if i've mentioned but if you're interested to know we are being directed by the artistic director from Jump the Moat theatre company. This weekend is therefore final prep (although my group has a bit more time to rehearse on Monday) and finding time also to relax a bit :) This evening I made sushi with my flat mate for tea and later on we all watched 'Ghost Ship' and ate many treats :) Also went shopping today and got a gorgeous necklace from accesorise -it's a little blue bird in a little cage on a long chain and it's so pretty I can't wait to wear it :) Anyway now I must get some beauty sleep!

Adventures of an October weekend

Hey,
So, I really want to chat a bit about my weekend coz it was really goooood :)
Umm... Friday night did some line learning with my house mate's help and then went out for what was gonna be a quick drink for a friend of our's birthday (he's also the boyfriend of my house mate who is also on my course). We stayed out a little longer than planned just chatting and relaxin was nice :) My housemate and I got McDonalds on the way back :P
Saturday I went to church 'Worship Team Day' which was really good and great to get to know some ppl a bit better that I don't know so well and spend time worshipping and praying with each other and stuff :) (I also got a sausage butty from a fish and chip shop at lunch - gotta be worth a mention!).
When I got back home I had a totally amazing like 2 hour nap, after which my housemate brought me a cuppa which was sooo sweet (this is totally the way to my heart! lol) and made me feel like I was at homehome, hehe.
Then had Macaroni cheese amazingly made by the same flat mate for a few of us :) That evening we went out for the same guys actual birthday party and on to a really nice cocktail bar - was such a fun night. I also came back fairly early but still felt like i'd been quite a while and having an ace time so that was cool.
On Sunday went to church meeting which was brill as always, and lots of baptisms which is totally awesome!!
Afterwards went for a spontanious lunch date with a very close friend of mine. We went to this brilliant little Italian coffee shop and sat and ate outside and talked and talked and pretended we were in Europe. :) hehe it was so nice. I love that coffee shop too! Also got a new cardi and some yummily scented Original Source shower gels.
When I got back I mooched on the sofa with my sleepy housemates as we all watched Ugly Betty :) ....then did bits and pieces...cleaning and such...
...then went to worship group practice before the evening church meeting. Really awesome time of worship and discovering a deeper dimension of the fathers love for us...and how we have literally THE BEST dad in the world :-D
Finished the weekend with a bit more cleaning and vegetable stew. so good weekend. God is good! :) Hope everyone had a good refreshing weekend! I'm afraid i managed to wreck my throat a bit though :-S ooopss...

Something tasty...

There are lots of things I could mention... but they're mostly boring and course related, or only interesting to me coz I was there... so thought I'd just share what I had for tea...
Recipie for yummy pork and dried apricot dish :
INGREDIENTS:
Pork Belly strips
Honey
A few Dried apricots
About half a parsnip
1 Pork stock cube
About 1/3 of a green pepper
About 3 or 4 mushrooms
New potatoes
Green beans
Kettle full of boiled water
Lay the pork strips on a baking tray. Make a few cuts/ dints in each strip, into which push half an apricot in each (so I usually put 2 halfs of one dried apricot into each strip).
Peel and cut up the parsnip, place this also on the tray with the meat.
Start to cook this in the oven.
Boil water and put in a pan. Add to this the potatoes and green beans. Simmer (Overall for about 20-25 mins - can take the beans out a bit earlier).
Chop up the pepper and mushroom into medium sized pieces. Also about 3 dried apricots chopped in half. Start cooking in a frying pan with a little sunflower oil. Once the oil has mostly gone, add some honey over these.
Also drizzle the honey over the pork (after it's been cooking for about 15/20 minutes) and the parsnip.
Once the honey has cooked in quite well (to the frying pan stuff!) , crumble the pork stock cube over the stuff in the frying pan. Add a little boiled water, and stir it, crushing the cube and using the spatula to crush the apricots a bit too - I then keep adding a little bit over water and stirring it in/ cooking it on low till it becomes gravy thickness, taste it, add a little more water and so on and so on until it's the right amount of sauce and not too strong.
Once the meat looks like it needs maybe just another 5 or 10 mins, I turn it over and continue to cook it for a bit (and also the parsnips).
Once the meat and everything else is fully cooked. Drain the beans and potatoes and serve, add the meat and parsnips, then dribble the saucepan full of veg and sauce over the top.
Eat it! Very yummy :)

People Power

so....I have some amazing people around me! ;

Yesterday I had a minor breakdown while discussing 'THE FUTURE' with my tutor. lol. rubbish. I left anyway and another tutor said a friendly hello and I cried. lol again. but then he took me aside, took time to listen to me and reassure me and help me come back to the here and now for now. Afterwards I came back to my awesome houseful of girlies and ended up mentionin it to a couple of them when they asked how it had gone and stuff. Later that day two of them independantly bought me a treat of rainbow drops (luv!) as a cheer-me-up :) so so sweet.
second, our washing machine very recently conked out (house with 6 girls - argh!). I mentioned it in passing at church student lunch and was pointed in the direction of a guy from church who was selling one. - we offered £75, he said "You can have it for £50". It's a really good, perfect condition, less than a year old machine...; Yes Please! hehe.
Today one of my housemates dad came to uninstall the old one, drive us to pick up the new one, and installed it in our house for us (yey!) and another of 3 guys from uni came to help us out. We now have a working washing machine! And so many people gave up of their time to help us out!
thirdly, my lovely mum sent me a little surprise of new socks and student asda tokens in the post which I got this morning...my mum is great ^_^
Just brilliant.
I'm sure there are many more amazing things over the last few days but that's three main things that spring to mind. <3
Also, over the last few days I've had quite a few conversations about my degree and what comes after...those conversations were with my housemates, some good friends from my course and as I mentioned a couple of my tutors... and lots of advice and things that I need to think about... But one thing I just wanna mention that one of my housemates said that really stuck in my head: It's about when u get your result for your degree - and we were talking about what we'd be happy with and stuff, and she said that at the end of the day when you open that piece of paper and see your grade, you've gotta know that you've done all you possibly could to get that, and if you know you've put your all into it and done your best then you can be satisfied with it whatever it is. And I think that's so true. And it makes me wanna do my best - I don't wanna open that piece of paper and think - whatever the grade - that I've let myself down.

hey, so...thought i'd mention that i am currently in rehearsals for Macbeth and today we found out our parts. It's not a huge company (our class will be split into 2 groups each performing the whole play - so about 9 per group) and so each person is playing a few characters. I am playing King Duncan, Lady MacDuff and a soldier. So that's cool, am excited to get stuck in. We're going to be touring it round a few schools in the area along with workshops. I've had experience - on a very amateur level - of that sort of thing in primary schools but not in secondary schools (and not shakespeare or anything close!). So, I'm a little apprehensive but I sort of feel if i can face that then there wont be much I can't face lol...so we'll see how it goes.
It's been a tiring week but this evening has been nice and relaxing with the girls and now chillin out in my room - so now i'm gonna get to bed - and tommorrow should be a much more laid back day :)

i had a nap today, and when i woke up i thought noooo i dont wanna get up - i jus wanna lie here and not move - not majorly gloomy or anything but just like - i have no reason to get up, why should i? But then i remembered that it's my sister in laws birthday - and so i picked up my mobile and gave her a call. Chatted to her for i dunno just like 5 minutes, and suddenly I felt better - I wanted to go next door to my flat mates room and chat to her... ok doesn't sound very noteworthy moment but i mean it just reminded me there are some such awesome people around and i wanna be spending time with them, talking to them and connecting while i have the chance...and that's worth getting up for.

Final year of training - Ready, steady, GO!

hey, so i'm now back at uni after a long summer holiday durin which my big sis got married and many good things happened....
but yes. now i'm back in the midlands to continue (and complete!) my acting studies. It feels a bit crazy to be in my final year.... i'm enjoying being back so far but a bit apprehensive of the truck loada work and energy this year will require! But I know with God's help i can get through it! i really wanna savour this too as my last year of uni and potentially my last year living with the 5 lovely ladies i've lived with for now over 2 years! :( This year I'm also getting more involved with the church i'm part of while i live here, so that's exciting.
So far just being back it's been fairly laid back and nice to catch up with people. Today we were back in uni - this week we have a week of workshops - mostly to do with settin up travelling theatre companies - and three auditions. These auditions are to find out what projects we are doing this term. There's a singing audition, a shakespeare and a workshop audition. So we've been thrown into stuff again pretty quick! Should be an interesting week though. ...well i better get on with rehearsing for my auditions...

This week there have been many good evenings!:D On Monday I went to a lovely indoor bbq at the house of a good friend of mine that i went through highschool with :) was so cool catching up with ppl and just having lots of fun and then went out on the town and played pool (joint won one game-woop!). Really brill evening and only cost me £1 in all!!! coz i'm very thrifty hehe ;P
On tuesday as always had church worship group practice which was awesome time as always. um what else...wednesday had church meeting which was brilliant - long time just worshipping God. Yesterday evening went out with the 'street angels (www.streetangelshuddersfield.co.uk) which was awesome. Was fairly quiet as many people have gone away to leeds fest this weekend but was brill to see the work they do and be a little involved - so brilliant :) Praise God. Then tonight I had another The Body Shop At Home party which went so well in so many ways :D God is so good! Plus my mummy was there which always helps ;P and tomorow evening i'm going to a friends party which should also be good! My friend loves Russia and goes out there with the charity 'Love Russia' (www.loverussia.plus.com) and she's also studying russian type things at uni! and so is moving there for a bit as part of that. The party tomorow is therefore a 'goodbye' affair :( but yeh - lots of good evenings :)
This week has also been very workfull though! which is a blessing really :) Have been enroling people at a local college and a slightly more distant one! And ofcourse another bodyshop party so thats cool.
What have people been up to?

Two good deliveries and some other good things!

Hey, so I have quite a lot to mention!
Um...Sunday was brilliant in terms of church meetings! Morning gathering was great of course and my dad spoke which wz cool. Then in the evening we had a meeting focusing on teaching on the holy spirit and of course involved lots of crazy dancing and singing singing singing which was awesome. Just love praising ^_^ It's so awesome
We had a bbq for lunch as the weathers been so good this week (it was our 3rd meal using the bbq this week i think!!) and discussed some weddingy things with my sister and her man (my brother and me are going to be performing a few songs at some point during the wedding so we discussed those and stuffff). Then eventually my sister and her fiance left us, so it's just the four of us now (we also had another couple staying with us this weekend - uni friends of my parents who performed at the summer garden party).
Yesterday I had a fairly productive day doing cleaning and also cleared out and re-organised some drawers and re-discovered some make-up and beauty products I'd forgotten about and stuff so that's cool. :) Tried out a new purply pink look on my eyes today. (It's cool coz I've chucked out a load of things but actually feels more like I've got a load of new stuff coz have re-discovered stuff and it's more accessible now!).
Yesterday I also got a delivery I was very happy about :) I'm a 'The Body Shop At Home' Consultant - which basically means I put on parties in people's homes where they can try out different products and stuff! - and I was expecting a delivery on friday from a party I did on monday, but I was out when they delivered so missed it :-/ (This was soooo frustrating at the time). But anyway, it's come now so that's brill. And I was especially glad as I'd ordered a mascara for myself, which was the Super Volume mascara which I needed a top up of, and Neroli Jasmin body mist (I love this scent! A really good friend of mine gave it to me around the time I went to uni and it completely reminds me of that exciting time in my life!). And also because now I have the new catalogues for July to September yey. So has been fun to look through that.
There is a new 'Soft Hands Kind Heart' hand cream which raises money for ECPAT (Visit www.ecpat.org.uk for more info on this charity and ways to support it) which aims to help protect children and young people from human trafficking. During this year I saw a piece by 'The Paper Birds' called 'In a Thousand Pieces' which was about sex trafficking and the experiences of one particular woman. It was so impacting and showed just how horrific this is. It is so great that the bodyshop is selling this product that helps raise money for a charity that is aiming to protect children and young people from this
Today I received another delivery which was a new CD made by my worship leader at the church I am a part of when am away studying. Which I was really excited to hear and am listening to for the first time properly now! So far so good :) She has such an awesome gift.
Today also I went for lunch at a garden centre with two lovely ladies who both mean a lot to me. So that was ace, had a good chat and got treated to lunch which was nice as I'm a poor student!;)
x
P.S. - The pic is from a TBSAH party I did whilst at uni.
Sorry this blog is so long!

Yesterday there was a fundraising summer garden party for pregnancy charity HPCC (visit www.hpcc.org.uk for more info on this brilliant charity and how it can help you or someone you know who is pregnant). It was an evening of classical music and was a really good evening. the only thing that spoiled it a bit for me was my bad hay fever!:-( But overall a good evening with some brilliant music. There were also stalls selling strawberries and cream, plants, cards etc, and one selling jewelry, from which I bout some turquoise heart shaped earrings which I am very pleased with. :-)

Sweet Defiance
Posted by

Today I had a trip to the dentist - sorry, make that the DREADED dentist. I'm not a fan. Sorry if you're a dentist. Nothing against dentists specifically but rather the whole 'dental experience'....*shudder*. I once put my hand in the way of one of the dentists numbing injections...yeh. Annoying thing is it doesn't hurt when it goes into your hand - only when it goes into your gum! eesh. Anyway; so, before I went I had to go into town to pick up a few bits and pieces, so I went via this pick and mix stall which is ace, has lots of good sweets and good price - I used to work there actually hehe - and got a big yummy bag of pick and mix, and told myself it would be treat after surviving the dentist. My sort of defiance against them. I know, I know that makes absolutely NO sense - like, firstly they wouldn't even know, and secondly what do I want -just to have to go back there sooner?? Despite this logic, it gives me a sneaky sense of satisfaction anyway lol.
Well I survived the dentist anyway.
On a much better note; I have an amazing friend with her own business which is a sort of weekend club teaching drama and speech to kids and young people. I've been along once before during this holiday and I went along again tonight to get some experience learning from someone who's had experience teaching drama, and it was really fun and a really enjoyable few hours :) It was funny because we did some improvising of general fun scenes and it feels like ages since I've done that - just properly played around drama wise coz it is so fun. Felt out of practice really! I really enjoy my course at uni and I know it is preparing me for the sort of work in the industry and so on but sometimes it's so good just to play and remember why you love it in the first place! It's like me and my friend were saying this eve - actors are just kids who loved let's pretend but as they grew up couldn't let go of the games! hehe. Well that's what it should be ;) (so many acting people i know would not be impressed with what I'm saying lol but i think you've gotta keep perspective). So yeh, and was nice to have a natter with my friend on the way back ^_^ To be honest, before I set off I was feeling a little bit fed up and I prayed that the evening would really cheer me up and it totally did. :) Praise God.
Then, this evening, my older sister and her fiance arrived as they are staying for the weekend. :-) My sister is getting married this summer and my younger sister and I are being bridesmaids - along with a friend of hers. And - drum roll please! -this evening we got to try on the dresses!Which was really nice. I'm very excited for the wedding!

Exhibition

This evening I went to my younger sister's final college photography and fashion textiles exhibition which was really cool. Good to see so many people's hard work come together, and those little pieces of paper saying 'Next destination...' and what they're going on to. Kind of exciting.
My sister is at the college I studied at too so it brought back memories to walk back through those doors. I remember when it used to feel so familiar and now it's so distant to me. College was such an ace time I really enjoyed it so much and it's wierd how long ago it seems. At college I studied Performing Arts and English and had some brilliant times with friends there.
At the exhibition we looked at work by the fashion (textiles) students, photography and fine art students. I was very proud of little sister as her work is ace ^_^ My bedroom happens to feature in her photography and I feature in her textiles (a picture of me and her when we were little) which is also cool ;)
All the exhibitions were just so full of images -so many different images, some original, some not, and all those images bombarded at you, and yet we're so used to it these days that they just go into your head so easily. And every single image has influence on you. for instance there were lots of pictures of food and so I started thinking about eating and what I wanted to eat at that moment (namely the things in the pictures) and of course there are far more powerful images around us than that of just food. And they go into our head so easily and influence our thoughts!
On the other hand, we're so used to images that it takes something really major, really different or affecting to us in a certain way for it to stand out to us. And different things will stand out to different people... some images i think we think stand out at the moment we see them, but then we forget them. Others truly impact us and stay with us for the rest of our lives. I know there are certain images for me that just seemed to jump out at me and stick in my head - images I saw when I was really young that have stuck in my mind. Often pictures of real things or moments that impact you are the ones that stand out. Would be cool to know if people agree or what images have impacted you?
Also whilst I was there I bumped into an old friend which was cool :) On the way back I briefly went by the house of a really good friend of mine who is going away to central america for a month on a volunteering trip - which is really cool, but am gonna miss her. (Also went to get chips...wonder if that was the influence of the food pictures lol...)
x
BTW- this particular image is of my sister in the make-up she wore for her fashion show at college last year :)

well, i'm thinking...why not?

hey, so i thought a while ago about maybe doing a blog or something but then i never really did anything about it and whenever i thought of it again i thought hmm not sure what to write though...but now, just recently my friend started a blog and so i got a profile sorta thing on here so as to be able to comment on her blog as she does it as i find it interesting to read. I really am new to this so i dont know how likely it is that anyone other than myself will be looking at this page or what but i just thought hey why not give it a go seen as i've got a profile!
...so what to say for now? ... well maybe a few basics about myself to put what i write in a bit of context i guess... I'm from the north of england (yey!) but am currently studying Acting (yes, the course really is just called that) at uni in the midlands, and I've just finished my second year of that. At Uni I live with 5 other girls which is brill and we've been together for two years now and are living together again next year :) And when I'm at home I'm with my mum, dad and little sister. I also have an older sister and brother who now live in the midlands. I'm a born again Christian I believe that Jesus died for our sins and rose again which is totally amazing and this means we can have a relationship with God which is so so totally brilliant. So that is a huge part of my life as it's sortof my whole reason for being really!:D
So yeh, I reckon that'll do for now as I'll be talking bout stuff so don't need to say much...
If you are the one person who's stumbled across this blog anways lol I hope you are well and happy and aren't wishing back the last minute of your life you spent reading this ;p
Laters x
