Luxembourg & France

The first day of using our Inter Rail passes for train travel we headed from Belgium to Luxembourg.

In Luxembourg we had only 1 day, but did a fair amount. We visited a museum, sat outside 'chocolate house' with a milkshake and local beer watching the guard march outside the Palais du Grand Ducal, as well as generally looking around, seeing a glimpse of Luxembourg's deep valleys and enjoying the sunshine.

 

We were on a budget, so one way that we saved money was having make-shift lunches with food bought cheaply from supermarkets or whatever and putting it together ourselves. Even though this was initially done to save money, it actually became one of my favourite things as it was good yummy food like bread and cheese (yum!), fresh fruit or veg, sometimes some wine, and whatever various things we could find. It became quite fun (and tasty!) to see what we could find and enjoying our little picnics. In all sorts of locations - parks, to trains, all over Europe. It was nice. So Luxembourg is where we had our first picnic on the cheap

We went from Luxembourg to France.
We stayed in Nancy in France, but also took a day trip to Paris (getting up very early so as to make the most of it!). I have been to Paris before with my family. I think this might have been the only place we visited that I'd been to before, but I was quite excited to go there again as it had made a good impression on me the last time, and my mum lived there for a short while, so it interests me.

 

In Paris we did as much as we could for free!

On the way to our next destination, we also went to Strasbourg on the edge of France, where we again had one of our picnics!

 

 It was a very nice, pretty place to go to. And we also went to a bakery in St. Louis, because why not!

Our next destination was not part of the European Union but still in Europe... Switzerland!

Time to take a breath... (October 2011)

After working solidly for about 9 months, it was time for a little 'holiday'. I spent most of my time at home (as I hadn't seen very much of friends or family) but also stayed in Harrogate for about a week before leaving, and also went to Leicester for one weekend to visit family and friends and visit my nephews 1st birthday. ...also shockingly had time to think! ;)

I also spent times getting jabs, buying clothes for a hot climate, getting travel insurance and packing (amongst other things!) because my next adventure would take me to a far off land...

It's been a few years... shall we meet again old blog?

I am considering taking this blog up again and dusting it off like the forgotten thing that it is. Let's try something now and see how we go.
Things have changed somewhat between this and my last post - perhaps i should say I have changed, for goodness sake - (a ridiculous amount has happened really)...and going in to it all seems silly because such is life... but maybe a few pics of a few things would be nice. Not necessarily the things that were of biggest consequence (by any means), but at least the things that photograph ok ;)

~After 3 wonderful years living with the Hester Ladies, Catherine and I stayed in Northampton but moved to a new home:
Whilst working with AlterEgo Theatre Company on 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' we lived in the aptly named Shakespeare House. ...When not working we spent much of our time eating, and especially enjoying the large range of multi-cultural food available near our new dwelling. We were in our element to be honest ;P

Rehearsing for and performing A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM
~ Fantastic time. Such a great experience to perform in this outdoor production - in the beautiful Delepre Abbey - and face all the challenges and blessings that go along with it.
